This year, many things are different and so it is not surprising that this year's game developer conference devcom is not taking place in the exhibition hall of the Cologne trade fair as usual. But instead of cancelling the event completely, a sophisticated online concept has been put together.
In digital lecture rooms, presentations could be listened to via live stream and questions could be asked via chat, in the virtual exhibition stands, developers could present their games and interact with visitors, meetings could be held via the integrated video chat function, chat groups on individual topics enabled nerd talk and much more. Technically, everything ran smoothly and was very well thought through.
Anyway, I was very impressed and I wouldn't have expected such an extensive range of possibilities. Maybe there will be a hybrid conference next year ... ?
